6 Sure Fire Ways to Build Your Fan Base on Facebook

Facebook has emerged as one of the best marketing tools. Almost everyone surf online has a Facebook account including business owners. If your business has a presence on Facebook, then you’ve already taken the first step toward connecting with your current and potential customers on one of the most popular social networking sites exist. But to fully benefit from having a fan page on Facebook, you’ll need to actively engage your fans to maintain their interest and keep the momentum going for your business.

To get the most of your Facebook fan page you need to let others know about it. You can never build your fan base without advertising it and expecting people will come and join your page. What you really need to do is to get the message out to your current customers, friends or relatives and you can do this by advertising your fan page to them. If you’ve have a website, blog or twitter page then you should embed the code so that visitors aware of it. To get the most out of it, you can place Facebook icon at the top of your website to draw attention to your fan page.

There are many ways you can use to boost your advertising even further namely; Facebook ads, blog posts, or other marketing tools that you can use to communicate with your page’s future fans.

2. Branding

Business branding is the key to your success. So make sure to build your brand. If there’s a way you can include about your page during your marketing process, then don’t hesitate and make sure you mention your Facebook page. Every month I will do some marketing to promote my business and I noticed one of the quickest ways you can do this is to include a link in your email signature. Other methods you can use to mention your Facebook fan page is on any fulfillment materials, flyers, postcards, invoices, packing slips, company brochures, or business cards. To gain popularity, you’ll need to spread the news through every customer contact avenue that’s available to your business.

3. Reachable Contact Information

Running a business you must make yourself reachable. No point you can bring traffic to your site but unable to reach you. So, make sure to include your company information like contact phone no, emails or any other information that can reach you. If you are aware, on your Facebook fan page, there’s an Info tab that allows you to include information about your business. So make use of it and try to provide an overview of your company, information about your products or services, and a link to your website. Be creative so that you can expand on this part of your page and use it to drive conversion in other areas. This area is also a great place to put links to your other social networking sites, such as Twitter.

4. Build Landing Page

Facebook has evolved over the past few years. There are tons of applications available for free that allow you to fully utilize it for your business purpose. One of the greatest aspects of Facebook’s fan page is the ability to create a landing page that leads into your actual page using an application called Static FBML (Facebook Markup Language). This application allows you to use basic coding to create a small landing page that becomes the first thing people see when they come to your fan site.

How to use it?

Easy! You need to install it first. Now, log in to Facebook, search Static FBML and add Static FBML to your page. Once you’ve installed it, you can insert your code and adjust your settings on your wall so that people who aren’t yet your fans will land on this particular page first. Make sure to provide some short description about your business so that you can get the most out of this technique. I’ve known businesses that have used this technique and have been highly effective in converting visitors to fans and customers.

5. Valuable Content

No matter what kind of business you do you need to provide engaging content. People will become your fan if you can provide interesting and informative tips. By having a Facebook fan page, you can provide as much information as possible and with this you have an opportunity to interact with them directly which could persuade them to participate. Participation requires both parties’ efforts. When your fans get involved they are more likely to take advantage of any special offers or promotions you suggest. Not only that, they could possibly recommending it to their own community.

There are few things you can do to encourage participation like adjusting your wall settings to allow your fans to post comments, links, videos, or having discussion on your page by using the discussion application available in the page. If you running a blog then you can also feed the posts using application like Social RSS which will automatically feed your blog posts. This is an excellent way to feed your readers/fans with valuable tips and information.

6. Thorough Research

Take time and efforts to understand how Facebook fan page can help improve your business. Please do your research. Basically, Facebook provides tool that allows you to view certain metrics about your fan base. It may not be detailed but it does provide a snapshot on some useful information like number of active fans you have in various age groups, your fans the geographic breakdown and the growth of your fan base over time. This information is very helpful when you want to carry out some promotions to advertise to your fans or whether you should target your promotions to a specific age group.

The best way to learn is by conducting some research on other businesses that used Facebook as their marketing tool. Learn their tactics and see what they’re doing to promote their page and engaging their fans. Observe the tools they are using, kind of content they post and methods they used to communicate with their fans.
