There are numerous inputs into these algorithms and some of that includes title tag, link popularity, inclusion of keywords in page text, and for a few, directory inclusion.
Anyway, I’m about to share you some SEO Optimization mistakes that mostly SEO Companies make. These mistakes are:
1. Using the Same META Tags For All Pages:
Most common mistake the SEO company will do is using the same Meta Tags like “Description” and “Keyword” for all the pages. Keyword tag is not that important but description tag is playing a role for your page ranking.
Hey, it won’t be major issues if you plan not to include any META tags, but will reduce your ranking on many other search engines. The inclusion of the Description tag is fairly important while the Keyword tag is of little importance.
2. Bad Title tags:
The “Title” tag is perhaps the most important element of each page of your site. Now if you have a website take a look at your about us page and usually you will see something like “About Us” or “About Your Company Name” or “Welcome to Your Company Name”, etc
Good SEO Company will make full use of this and optimize based on the content. Example: Let’s assume your company provides training for golfers. So, a good SEO Expert will use something like “Get to Know Our Team of Golf Trainers, Experts and Consultants”
Now, this title tag are actually optimize for an important and popular keyword phrase belong to your about us page.
3. Content Relevancy:
Search engines normally will crawl to match/comparing the keyword phrase that being searched and the content in your website. Make sure the keywords placed few times in your page. Good content optimization will make sure the keywords appear at the beginning of the paragraph, center page and last paragraph.
Not to forget you have to make sure that each of your web page, the title tag and page content are fully optimize. It must relate to each other with your most important keyword(s) in it.
4. Text in Images:
Web developers only develop good looking website and they have little understanding of how search engines crawl Web sites. so, most of them will design either fully image website that not going to help for the search engines rankings. This is common mistake to have all or a lot of text on a page in a graphic image. Yeah, the website might look great, but a search engine crawler can’t read it. Avoid this and make sure use text for search engines to crawl your website.
5. Page Not Properly Used:
Whether your website has 10 or 100 pages, each of it has a potential search engine entry point. So, make sure to plan for every page and optimize each one for specific keyword phrases.
6. Not Submitting Your URL to Search Engines and Directories:
The very first thing you should when you have a website is submitting them to search engines. You must do this so that the search engines know that you’re exists. Don’t expect by having a website the search engines will know about you and can be found in the top search page.
Another method you can use is to let the search engine you exist is by linking your URL to directory. It is advisable to submit your URL directly to the directories so that the search engines will crawl your web pages.
7. No Linking In:
Link building is the most important aspect in search engines algorithms such as Google, Yahoo and Bing. Good SEO companies will spend more time and resources on gaining links from other sites.
The best practices is to make sure your website is listed on all the major directories, industry-specific directories and portal sites, your partners and clients as appropriate, and other sites. Secondly, expand the content on your site, including the development of “resources information,” and seek links from other sites.
8. Too Much Focus on the Keywords Meta Tag:
Check out the Keyword Meta Tag on most Web site pages and you’ll see a long list of words and phrases, including the name of the company CEO, product names, etc. The problem: Almost all of the search engines actually don’t use this tag, but they do look at the keywords in your Title tag and page content, and a few look at the Description Meta tag.
9. Poor/No ALT Tags:
The ALT tag is used to describe the contents of an image on your Web page. Bring your cursor on the image you should see some text appear and that’s what I was referring at. Another way to see that text is when the graphics are not loaded or loads slowly. So, what the search engines crawlers will do is, read the tag as text and so when used correctly with appropriate keywords, this tag could improve your ranking a few places.
10. No/Lack of Text Links on Home Page:
Most of the search engines will crawl your home page first, and then look for text links further into the site. So, you need to make sure you include a number of text links (that takes visitors to various pages within your site) on your home page.
11. Low/High Keyword Density:
While the use of keyword density in the search engine algorithms seems to be changing and not so importance anymore, it should not be ignored. Keyword density that is too low suggests that the page may not be as relevant as another, yet too high and your page is considered SPAM by most and will be penalized in the ranking. So, make sure you understand how many keyword phrases to use repeatedly to avoid penalty you.
12. Use of JavaScript, Flash and Frames:
Good SEO company will advise the site owner to avoid the use of Frames, Flash and too much JavaScript because it can cause problems with crawlers reading and relegating your pages.
