SEO Tips: 5 Ways To Improve YOUR Website Rankings
Few days back I was talking about how to drive traffic to your site. Today, I feel it’s necessary for me to at least letting you know how you can improve your website rankings.
As by now you should know that Search engine optimization continues to be one of the most crucial ways of generating direct traffic and increasing your websites revenue. But please bare in mind that SEO is not something you can just pick up and master it overnight. My personal advice is, leave it to SEO Experts and you better focus on things you do the best.
Anyway, there are quick and easy ways to improve your search ranking from nowhere to at least in the some pages in the search engines. I love SEO Optimization and I believe SEO Optimization is the need in the coming years. So, what I did here as a SEO Specialist at Websifu.biz is outlining you 5 tested and proven ways of pulling in more Web traffic.
You see…
The first basic thing to do is getting your website listed in Google, Yahoo and MSN. This is not a hard thing to do even non IT savvy able to do this. But what really matters here is getting “visible” at the search engines to ensure you’ve done the basics. Anyway, this is not the real purpose here. The most of important things is to get the biggest bang for your buck with the following 5 ways in improving your website rankings:
1. Title Tags
The first thing to do is to make sure your ‘Title’ tags are related to the content of the site. Huh, title tag? What’s that? Check out the image below.
<title> Malaysia Website Design, SEO Optimization and Web Marketing Services</title>
The fact is most search experts agree that having correct title tags is one of the top three factors that determine where a search engine will rank you. Don’t use the same title tags for all your pages. Each page should have their own title tags that describe the page properly. So, if your web pages have same title tags then please spend a minute and look at the title tags of every page on your site and see if you have accurately described the page with your title tags.
Here some tips…
- A good title tag will include the keyword you are trying to rank that page for.
- Don’t use long title tags. Most of the search engines will truncate your title tags after 65 characters including spaces.
2. Meta Description Tags
Every page should have their own description and search engine do count this too. If your title tags are the cover of your page then your meta description tags are the back cover telling your visitors what’s inside. You can view the description tag of any website by right click and view the source code.
Confused? Don’t worry. Take a look at the image below.
<META NAME=”Description” CONTENT=”At i1WebSifu, we provide Superior Quality and World Class Website Design and Web Marketing Solutions for your business needs. Be it dazzling websites and portals or …”>
As I indicated in the image above, you should write a couple sentences that describe your site or your page. In your meta description, you get a bit more room to talk but you should use no more than 200 characters. Just like with your title tags, every page should have a unique meta description.
3. Naming The URL/File(s)
This is important as well. You should name your web page file that related to your page description. You should use proper keyword to describe the page. Now let’s take a look at the image below and the example and you tell me which one looks better and easy to understand?
a) www.yourwebsite.com/index.php?=7497
OR
b) www.i1websifu.com/web_marketing_price.html
Now, I believe you noticed that I use keyword there “web_marketing_price”.
You see… Your URLs and page names matter for the purposes of generating a click to your site as well as improved search rankings. Even a Google search engineer Matt Cutts also once said before that having short, descriptive URLs is a factor in better rankings.
4. Be Visible
Now, I have discuss this in my previous post “Traffic Tips: 5 Ways To Drive More Traffic To Your Business“.
Why you need to be visible?
It’s a common sense isn’t it?
When people know about your site they will visit and find out more what you’re doing so you’re actually creating an opportunity to make sales.
Over the past few years I met tons of business owners that failed to do this. They miss the opportunity to brag about their website, their own business especially after they’ve spent thousands of ringgit to have a site created.
So, if you were a business owner, please take a couple minutes to create profiles on social networking sites, such as Facebook, MySpace, Tagged, Friendster, etc. These will give you a handful of strong links to your site and let the search engines know you exist and start the process of getting your site listed.
If you have Facebook then join my social networking community. You can also follow me at Twitter.
5. Check Your Website Contents and Keywords
Make sure to check through your website contents. Many website owners failed to do this as well. Either the website content is sucks or for them bragging about something that’s not relevant is more important than having a proper optimize contents with keywords that is related to the business.
You see…when the search engines visit your site/page, they download a page and look at the content and trying to understand what the website as a whole is about and where it belongs. If you are trying to get ranked for “Kuala Lumpur Electrical Services”, you should have at least a page with that keyword in it a couple times. It’s also important that the keywords appear natural and be understandable because after all, a website that captures the interest of the search engines but fails to capture the interest of your customers can hardly be justifiable.
These are the five great ways to get your website on the search engine map, but remember, this is just the beginning. Since the SEO Optimization is a game that is constantly evolving, it can be difficult to stay on top. Hire a Search Engine Optimization expert, and you’ll be pulling in new traffic while smoking the competition now and in the future.
Cheers!
