What the Heck is Social Media?
Social media has become conventional and as someone said every media becoming social. Because of the new developments of technology and the way people communicate with each other, a now form of media called social media, has emerged. Social Media has changed the way the website communicates and has given power to ordinary people which they haven’t experienced before. But many people think that, for some reason, people seem to be associating social media with social networking.
Anyway, I was browsing through my RSS reader today and came across some interesting posts that talked about social media trend which is something I have been noticing myself. Many assumed that social media is the collection of social networking sites like Facebook, Friendster, Tagged, MySpace, and Twitter but the truth is it is much more than that.
We know what media is, in layman’s term media is an instrument of communication such as newspaper, television or a radio. In the Internet era, a new kind of media is being introduced, this is Social Media. To simplify what social media is, this is a social instrument of communication in forms of a blog, voice and video. It is a various forms content, collection of websites that allow people to interact and share information online.

Well here is a list of things that are part of the social media:

Social media are used for various Social Media Marketing strategies such as:
- Whether you want to use Social Media Marketing to launch a new product.
- Promote an existing one.
- Improve customer loyalty or get more leads.
- Crucial for knowing where you are going.
- What you want to achieve from your Social Media Marketing efforts.
- What resources you will need.
Now, you can see that social media is much wider than what some people might assume.
